I'm really bad at the whole updating thing...
Life is going well. My breakdown --
Directing: My prof, Jen, is a goddess, and I want to grow up to become her. She has been wonderfully helpful when it comes to one-on-one time when I'm freaking out about what to do with the scene I picked for my final presentation (the opening balcony scene from Private Lives,) with cuts and so on. Awesome lady, awesome class. Our scenes really run the theatrical gambit, from Moliere to Mamet. Very, very fun, and the presentations that have happened so far have been really thought-provoking. I'm terrified but excited.
Italian: This as been a really easy class so far, but I have fun talking to the prof after class about Italian grammar, film, and opera. She likes that I actually do the work and come in with questions, so we get along, which is good, because I'm going to be taking classes with her for 3+ semesters, if I end up taking 200 level classes. (I have a feeling that it gets more interesting once we get past grammatical forms.)
Film Theory: It's a Turner class, so it's fun. We've watched Griffith's Intolerance (bizarre), and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (which is really fascinating as far as set goes. I think I saw one [1] set piece with any right angles at all.) I love this man, and could listen to him talk for hours. I have to write a paper on Murnau's Faust, and I'm slightly scared that I'm going to screw it up, especially because he was so excited that I picked it. I'll do my best...
Opera: Can we hear a refrain? I LOVE THE TEACHER. Very funny British woman, who tells us not to get pancreatic cancer ("You just shouldn't do that!), and that Idomeneo is "slightly boring, but still jolly good!" My friend Greg is an angel when it comes to being a studying and watching buddy. We're about to start Mozart (Le Nozze di Figaro, and Die Zaubeflote) and I can hardly wait.
Six Characters: Jen's directing, and I'm having a really great time. I have to do a research project about my character so that I can do the show for credit, but I picked something that coincides with my directing project, so it will be fun. I love my fellow cast members in the acting company, as we have created a really crazy in-universe for our fictionalized show, Mixing it Up. Yay!
OCT: Organizing the musical revue is tricky, but so far it has been okay. It will get crazy later in the semester, but I'll worry about that then.
Room stuff: Jen and I are getting along, which is a plus. She's okay with my mess, as long as it's on my side of the room, which is no problem, as the room is pretty big. I have a little colony of green growing things that makes me very happy: the Donkey Tail and Spider Plant, both of which I almost killed last year, have been thriving, and I took a lone Jade Plant leaf that had fallen from the library's plant, and gave it a home in my room. Right now, I'm waiting for my Sensitive Plant and Jen's oregano to sprout, and then we'll have a lovely little community of greenness.
Soo... now I'm eating lunch!

Funny long gap between last November's unhappiness and your current joy. Thanks for the updated blog!!
Thought of you and "I Don't Feel Like Dancin'" tonight at Sticky Lips BBQ while listening to Ella and Louie doing a duet of "I Won't Dance...Don't Ask Me!"
